The FA Cup season got underway last weekend with live coverage from the BBC. Marlow FC were host to local side Thame United in the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday 20th August. Both clubs have a lot of history in the FA Cup, hence why the BBC covered the event live.

History: Marlow FC and Thame United
Marlow FC have taken part in the FA Cup since 1871 and have not missed a season since. Significantly, Marlow FC boasts the most entry’s in the competitions history. They even contributed to the cost of the original trophy. Marlow FC compete in the Isthmian League South Central Division, and their highest place finish in the FA Cup was the semi-finals in 1882. Their best finishing place in more recent times was making it through to the third round in 1993. Subsequently, they lost to Tottenham Hotspur. Additionally, Thame United are one of Oxfordshire’s oldest clubs.
