Accounts & Admin Assistant

Heppelthwaite the Red Van Plumbers are recruiting an Account & Admin Assistant to join our team. Our friendly, family run plumbing and heating company urgently requires an Accounts and Admin Assistant to join our successful and expanding team.

This role will support the day-to-day function of the Accounts & Admin department, which will include maintaining the sales & purchase ledgers, credit control and monthly bank reconciliations. You will also assist with various clerical and ad-hoc duties to support the smooth running of the department.

Role: Accounts & Admin Assistant

Area: Based in Bourne End, Bucks

Salary: Based on £12.50 per hour. £26,000 per annum for a full time role

Working hours: Monday to Friday (8 hours per day)

Heat Pump Installer

Applicants will need to have experience working in an office environment, and ideally some understanding of financial systems and bookkeeping processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the accounts receivable and credit control activities of the business.
  • Posting all bank receipts & payments.
  • Monthly bank account & credit card reconciliations to ensure that all income and expenses are accounted for.
  • Matching supplier invoices to purchase orders and entering onto our system, identifying discrepancies & raising queries with suppliers where needed.
  • Taking customer card payments over the phone.
  • Allocating customer payments & weekly debt chasing.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and raising supplier payments by their due date.
  • Following up queries with customers and suppliers when needed.
  • Providing admin support including, but not limited to: answering calls, opening and allocating incoming mail and posting mail daily, filing, updating health & safety records, ordering stationery etc.
  • Provide support & holiday cover for team members as needed.
  • Petty cash management & control.
  • Monitoring of Accounts inbox.
  • Maintaining records relating to the fleet vehicles.

Essential Skills / Attributes:

    • Experience in a similar accounts or admin role.
    • Some working knowledge of accounting software.
    • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
    • Competent IT skills – MS Office – particularly Excel.
    • Strong organisational skills & the ability to multitask.
    • Ability to work well as part of a team whilst working independently to meet deadlines without constant supervision.


Based on £12.50 per hour. £26,000 per annum for a full time role.

Both Part time and flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate

The role will be based at our Bourne End office. Some Hybrid home working will also be considered.
