What Is the Bosch EasyControl?

The Bosch EasyControl is a smart, internet-connected thermostat that replaces a standard room thermostat and programmer in a single, wall-mounted unit. It connects directly to compatible Worcester Bosch Greenstar boilers via a 2-wire connection and communicates intelligently with the boiler to modulate its output based on real conditions in your home.

Unlike a basic on/off thermostat, the EasyControl does not simply tell the boiler to fire up or shut down. Instead, it adjusts the boiler’s flow temperature continuously in response to the difference between the current room temperature and your target setting. This reduces energy waste and keeps your home at a more consistent, comfortable temperature throughout the day.

The EasyControl is available in black or white and can be wall-mounted or placed on an optional table stand. It is also available in a wired or wireless configuration, making it suitable for a wide range of installation scenarios.

Key Features of the Bosch EasyControl

Load and Weather Compensation

The EasyControl uses load compensation as standard, continuously adjusting the boiler’s output to maintain your target temperature without unnecessary cycling. It also uses weather compensation, referencing local weather data via your postcode to anticipate changes in outdoor temperature. Together, these features can improve system efficiency by up to 4% compared to a standard on/off control.

Room-by-Room Zoning with Smart TRVs

When paired with Bosch Smart Radiator Thermostats (Smart TRVs), the EasyControl can split your home into up to 20 individual heating zones. Each zone can have its own schedule and target temperature, so you only heat the rooms you are using, when you are using them. The EasyControl currently supports up to 19 Smart TRVs across those zones. Smart TRVs also include a child-lock setting, managed through the EasyControl app.

Home Presence Detection

The EasyControl app uses smartphone location to detect when occupants are at home or away. When the house is empty, the heating is automatically adjusted to save energy. As you return home, the system starts heating in advance so the house is warm when you arrive. Home Presence Detection can be switched on or off at any time without affecting your regular heating schedule.

Ambient Colour Display and Farsight

The EasyControl features a full-glass colour touchscreen with ambient backlighting. A range of fading coloured lights indicate what the control is doing at a glance, so you do not need to open the app to check the status of your heating. The Farsight feature also displays useful information such as the current time and outdoor weather conditions from across the room.

App Control and Energy Monitoring

The EasyControl app is free to download and use on iOS and Android, with no subscription fees. Up to 10 devices can be connected simultaneously, allowing multiple members of the household to manage the heating from their own phones. The app provides clear graphs of your gas consumption for both heating and hot water, with the option to include current gas prices for accurate cost readings. You can also book your annual boiler service directly through the app.

Voice Control Compatibility

The EasyControl is compatible with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to adjust your heating using voice commands when paired with an Alexa device.

Data Privacy

All data is stored on the EasyControl unit itself rather than in the cloud. This means your information is not shared with third parties, and security risks associated with remote data storage are minimised.

Wired or Wireless Installation

The EasyControl can be installed using a standard 2-core wired connection between the control and the boiler. Alternatively, the EasyControl RF Key plugs into the boiler’s control panel and provides wireless communication between the boiler and the thermostat, removing the need for a cable run. This makes wireless installation practical in properties where running new wiring is not straightforward.

Upgrading from the Worcester Wave

If you currently have a Worcester Wave thermostat, upgrading to the EasyControl is a simple process. The EasyControl uses the same backplate and connections as the Wave, so in most cases the upgrade involves unclipping the Wave unit and fitting the EasyControl in its place. No new wiring is required for a like-for-like swap.
