GREEN HOMES GRANT
Everything you need to know about the Green Homes Grant.
What is the Green Homes Grant?
Homeowners and landlords in England can now apply for a voucher of up to £5000 towards the cost of installing energy efficient heating improvements to homes. This could help reduce energy bills by up to £600 a year and help reduce your carbon footprint. If you are eligible the government will provide a voucher that covers up to two thirds of the cost of qualifying improvements to your home.
Furthermore, you may be able to receive 100% of the cost of the improvements if you are a homeowner and either you or a member of your household receives income support. The maximum value of this voucher is then £10,000.
Not everyone can apply so you’ll need to check to see if you are eligible. Please feel free to contact our friendly team if you have any questions or would like to discuss your options.
You may be eligible for a grant of £5000 if you live in England and:
- you own your own home (including long-leaseholders and shared ownership)
- you own your own park home on a residential site (including Gypsy and Traveller sites)
- you’re a residential landlord in the private or social rented sector (including local authorities and housing associations)
You cannot get the Green Homes Grant for newly built homes that have not been previously occupied. You must redeem the voucher and ensure improvements are completed by 31 March 2022.
You can check if you’re eligible here – Check Eligibility
What HEATING measures can the voucher be used for?
Under the government backed Green Homes Grant scheme, our customers can benefit from a number of heating measures listed below. The voucher is split into primary and secondary measures. If you install at least 1 primary measure, then your voucher can be used to help cover the cost of any of the secondary heating measures.
First use the voucher for a primary measure
Low carbon heat
The following low carbon heating measures are covered by the voucher:
air source heat pump
ground source heat pump
hybrid heat pump
Then use the remaining on a secondary measure
Heating controls and insulation
The following measures are covered by the voucher:
hot water tank thermostat
hot water tank insulation
heating controls (thermostats, smart heating controls, zone controls, thermostatic radiator valves)
Note: The amount you receive towards the cost of secondary measures cannot exceed the amount you receive for primary measures. Furthermore, you will only be able to redeem vouchers for secondary measures once you have installed a primary measure and redeemed that voucher.
We have only listed the heating services we offer. However, to discover all the Green Home Grant measures please visit the Official Government website. There are other measures you could apply for, such a insulation.
Certified Installers Only
To carry out work under the scheme, all tradespeople and businesses need to be certified and registered to take part in the scheme.
Installers must be certified by a body that has been accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), such as Trustmark. However, further accreditation is required for carbon reducing heat measures such as heat pumps, engineers must be certified with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
Our customers can rest assured that Heppelthaite the Red Van Plumbers meet all accreditations. All our engineers are experienced and qualified. Also, to provide total peace of mind, we provide a workmanship gurantee. Additionally, customers can pay after the work is complete. Did we mention we are also members of Checkatrade and Which Trusted Traders?
